Amazon users will have another reason to converse with their Echo Look. Yesterday, the company announced a new beta feature where Alexa provides real-time feedback on an outfit. Users can ask, “Alexa, how do I look?” or “How can I look better?” or even “Compliment my Outfit” and receive smart, specific, and fun styling advice. The Echo Look will snap your picture and provide a response in ten seconds, in a way outsourcing the age-old question (“honey do I look fat in this dress?”) to a machine.
This Beta feedback feature on the Echo Look is just another way Amazon is attempting to act as a personal stylist and secure your fashion dollars. By capturing more and more images of people’s #OOTDs, Amazon is gathering valuable body data which will no doubt soon be used for virtual styling.
A year ago, Amazon acquired 3D Body Labs, a company that aims to create true-to-life 3d body models to support various 2b2 software applications, including virtually trying on clothes or photorealistic avatars for gaming.
