#OOTD and #OOTN Instagrammers rejoice, your favourite new gadget is on the way. The Echo Look is a new fashion tech device from Amazon that combines everything you love about AI assistant Alexa with everything you’ve dreamed about from a personal stylist.
The hands-free camera captures your style while performing all the tasks you’ve come to expect from Alexa, including reading the news and audiobooks, setting alarms, receiving traffic and weather updates, and controlling smart home devices.
Use voice-control to ask Echo Look to take full-length photos and videos of your outfits with a depth-sensing camera. Check yourself out from every angle with the companion app, and build a personal lookbook for sharing and archiving your personal style.
In addition to helping you with day-to-day dressing tasks, the Echo Look can also help you discover new brands based on your personal style. Take advantage of Style Check, the device’s built-in service that leverages machine learning based on data sets provided by real-life style assistants to help you look your best. Once released onto the market, it will retail for $199 USD.
The Echo Look is further evidence of Amazon’s continued investment in the fashion space. “It’s Day 1 in the category [of fashion]” the company’s CEO Jeff Bezos told the New York Times in 2012. At the time, Amazon was gearing up to sign on hundreds of popular retail brands like Michael Kors, Vivienne Westwood, Catherine Malandrino, Jack Spade and Tracy Reese. In 2013, the company announced a 40,000-square-foot photo factory in Brooklyn specifically dedicated to styling, shooting, and editorial. Most recently, Amazon acquired Souq, a leading online shopping site for the Middle East.
