Artificial Intelligence for Fashion with Leanne Luce (Part 1 of 2)

Our guest today is Leanne Luce, a blogger at the Fashion Robot, a product designer for Google, and the author of a newly published book titled “Artificial Intelligence for Fashion: How AI is Revolutionizing the Fashion Industry.” We had such an interesting interview with Leanne, we had to break up the conversation into two parts. In part one, we define terms like machine learning and then go on to discuss applications for AI in the fashion industry such as chatbots and smart mirrors. Leanne shares how a memorable fashion moment catalyzed the creation of image search, and how this technology is becoming more sophisticated with innovations like the Google Lens.

Leanne’s book on AI for fashion is available now on Amazon.

Fashion fun fact: it was Jennifer Lopez’s Versace dress that catalyzed the creation of image search. Image via Vogue.

As mentioned in the episode, I’m sharing an embedded video of my “break the internet” moment from CES 2019 (that’s the Consumer Electronics Show). Between Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Imgur the below video has been viewed more than half a million times. Leanne and I discuss how the technology combines AI and AR to work, as well as how these innovations are becoming tools in the consumer journey.

Will AI bring us any closer to Cher Horowitz’s closet in Clueless?
