*Note that at 3.12 in this video I say that I’m in China. While HK is technically a part of the People’s Republic of China it considers itself a separate region. As a special administrative region, Hong Kong maintains governing and economic systems that are separate from those of mainland China. Many people here identify as Hongkongers rather than Chinese. I want to be culturally sensitive to the places I visit and their identities, especially at a time when there are tensions between HK’s sovereignty and relationship with China.
