On today’s episode of the Electric Runway podcast we speak with Maria and Shannon Hoover, the duo behind Make Fashion, a high-tech, high-fashion runway show taking place this weekend at the Telus Spark Science Centre, in Calgary, Alberta.
The evening of Saturday April 2nd, models will walk the runway wearing one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces that incorporate emerging technologies, including 3D printing, EEG brain-sensing, and projection mapping. Attendees can expect to see a spectacle of style—from a cocktail dress that changes hue in response to its environment to a set of mother-daughter skirts that act and react to one another based on proximity. The evening showcase invites audiences to gaze into a not-so-distant future where wearable technology goes beyond the wrist, where our clothing is equipped with new communicative capacities.
