Three FashionTech Startups you can Support on Kickstarter Right now

As the fashion-tech industry evolves, we’re seeing more products hit the market catering to consumer’s needs for devices that are just as stylish as they are smart. At Electric Runway, we’re always keeping an eye on what’s new and next in connected clothing, smart jewelry, and beyond because we believe these products—and the technologies they bring to market—will forever change the way we interact with our devices and one another. With this in mind, here are three fashion-tech startups you can support on Kickstarter right now:

1. Wearable Italia’s ProdigIO

If you thought all smart bands were created equal, think again. Our friends at Wearable Italia have launched a collection of beautiful bracelets that track your fitness, deliver notifications, and contains a hidden SOS button. The bands are designed and manufactured in Italy with precious metals that are meant to last a lifetime. ProdigIO was designed by Roberto Ferlito, whose work has been featured on the cover of Vogue and sported by the likes of Lady Gaga and Cara Delevingne.

In addition to being fashionable, ProdigIO is also functional, offering a variety of features for the digitally connected wearer. The bracelet counts calories burned, steps taken, and even offers suggestions on how to improve your health via the companion app. Set-up a list of VIP contacts and be altered when these people are trying to get in touch with haptic vibrations and subtle LED lights. Create a secret trigger that notifies your emergency contacts if you’re in trouble.

ProdigIO is available in three form factors and colours so you can customize your experience. Kickstarter pledges start at 5 euros, but if you want to take this bracelet home, you’ll need to pledge 169 euros or more. This is an early bird discount of 50% off the retail price, and only available to the first 100 backers. Learn more about Wearable Italia’s ProdigIO campaign on Kickstarter here.

2. Talsam: Connect With A Loved One Using Smart Jewelry

Following the theme of connected jewelry that offers consumers both beauty and brains is Talsam, a technology-infused charm that makes someone you love feel cared for all the time. Talsam, an Arabic play on the word talisman, features a Swarovski constellation with white LED lights that light up when you receive a message.

The charm is meant to be a memorable gift that enables two people an intimate and dedicated way to communicate. The person wearing the charm can get light vibration alerts when they receive a message as well as send an SOS alert with their location by holding down a button for five seconds. Talsam works on its own, or in conjunction with another charm. The charms come with the hardware to be worn as a necklace or bracelet.

Talsam can be yours by supporting the project on Kickstarter for $139. Or, take home sets of two or four charms for prices up to 53% off the retail value. To learn more, we invite you to visit their Kickstarter page here.

If you’ve ever forgotten your phone charger at home, you’ll definitely want to hop on this bandwagon. NILS has introduced a wearable charging cable that looks like a braided bracelet but is ready to spring into action when your battery is low.

The bracelet is constructed with a vegan leather as well as strong magnets to hold it together. It’s available in three wrist sizes to fit any wearer, as well as several clevery-named colours, including dark chocolate and ninja black. Backers will also be able to choose from three types of charging options: lightning cable, Type C, and Micro USB. What’s even more exciting? You can support this project for less than $10. Visit their Kickstarter page to check out different funding options.
