Women & Wearables Video Recap

It has been just a few short weeks since Electric Runway + WWTO’s event on Women and Wearables, and we’re so excited to share this video recap with you! In case you missed it, on March 28th, Electric Runway teamed up with We are Wearables Toronto (or WWTO for short) to put on an event entirely focused on women working in this amazing international community we call “wearables.”

As we all know, women are a minority in tech. Our goal with this event was to carve out a space dedicated to discussing women—their issues, challenges, and achievements. In addition to an all-female cast on stage, including headliners such as Ana Serrano of the Canadian Film Centre and Karen Kwan of Meta, the event also featured a demo area filled with female-founded or female-focused products. Attendees heard from key figures in the wearable tech space, including Ariel Garten of InteraXon and Kate Hartman of the Social Body Lab, as well as got an up-close peek at products such as Bellabeat and Little Robot Friends.

We were thrilled to be able to align conversations within our community with global movements, such as the Women’s March on Washington and International Women’s Day. There has never been a more important time to discuss feminism and the future, and we thank everyone who came out to this event to take part!
